Curtis C. Collins is Vice Chairman of the JSC Federal Credit Union, a $1.5
Billion – 116,000 member financial cooperative which is located in southeast
Houston, Texasand serves the NASA
Johnson Space Center and surrounding communities.Collins has been a volunteer at JSC FCU for
over 45 years having served 28 years as a Board member and 17 years as a credit
committee member, including 8 years as chairman.As a member of the JSC FCU Board of Directors,
he has served for 26 years as both Vice Chairman and Board Membership Officer,
and 12 years as a member of the Political Liaison Committee.
Collins was elected
in 2008 to serve as a National Credit Union Foundation Board Member and had
previously served seven years as a Texas Credit Union League Foundation Trustee,
2000-2007, including three years as Chairman and one year as Vice Chairman.For the Texas Credit Union League, he currently
serves as a member of the Programs Committee and has previously served as
chairman of the Volunteer Council; and a member of the Financial Literacy
Council and Steering Committee for the Volunteers Summit.For the Houston Chapter of Credit Unions,
Collins originated and served as Chairman of the Credit Union Volunteers
Association, which provided monthly programs for volunteers on current credit
union issues and provides developmental opportunities.He also conducts formal training for local
credit union volunteers in the CUNA Volunteer Achievement Program, where Collins
has attained eight levels of certification.Also, Collins has served as a member of the National Association of
Federal Credit Unions membership, programs, and awards committees.
Collins is a Credit Union Development Educator.He received his certification in 2000 from
the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) in Madison, Wisconsin.He has a BBA in Human Resources from the
University of Houston; and has worked for over 48 years in human resources
management, spacecraft program and administrative support, and center
operations support for the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston Texas.He is currently an instructor in Federal wage
and salary administration programs for NASA and various other federal agencies.
Collins was selected to the Texas Credit Union League Hall of Fame in
October 2010.He was also awarded the
Texas Credit Union League Volunteer of the Year Award in 2003 and the National
Association of Federal Credit Unions Volunteer of the Year Award for CU’s with assets
over $100 million in the year 2000.While
working for NASA, Collins received the prestigious NASA Astronaut’s Snoopy
Award and Certificate of Commendation, and the Manned Flight Awareness Honoree
Award.He was the Houston Area Professional
Federal Employee-1986.
A native of Mathews, Virginia, Collins and his wife Barbara live in
Pasadena, Texas.They have 3 adult children,
David, Laurie, and Chad and 6 grandchildren.
