Student Campus Housing & Registration

Students are housed in the Tom Brown Pete Wright Apartment Community on the Texas Christian University (TCU) campus in Fort Worth, TX.

Students register Sunday, July 12, 2009. Second year students are prepared to help make your move-in a little easier.

Dress comfortably - it will be hot! Additional information about registration location and suitemate assignments will be emailed to you prior to school.

You are placed on a floor with other SCMS students only.

  • Four (4) students are assigned to each "apartment".
  • Each "apartment" has four (4) sleeping rooms, two (2) bathrooms, a seating area with a loveseat, small table, and four chairs, and a fully equipped kitchen including a refrigerator, microwave, range, and dishwasher.
  • Each room has a full sized bed, drawers, and closet.
    • One (1) set of linens is in your room when you check in. Travel space-permitting, full size bedding from home makes the dorm stay a little nicer.
    • Towels are also provided. However, the towels run very small - you may want to bring a couple of bath towels from home.

Miscellaneous

  • The dorm’s front desk is staffed 24 hours a day. They can help you within the residence hall and assist with emergencies.
  • Change machines for coin-operated phones, vending machines, washer & dryer, etc. are located in the Brown-Lupton Student Center.
  • Watch for information about internet access.

University Policies

  • Pets are not permitted.
  • Alcohol is permitted for adults in private rooms but not in public areas of the residence hall. To bring alcoholic beverages to your room¾container must be sealed and in a paper or plastic bag. Alcohol in public areas may result in permanent removal from campus.
  • Controlled substances, firearms, fireworks, and other explosives and weapons are not permitted in University facilities OR on campus.
  • Smoking is not permitted in dorm rooms (or classrooms). Halls and common areas are also designated as “smoke free”.

What to Bring to Make Your Stay More Comfortable

  • Bedding – full size twin sheets, blanket, pillow, and bedspread.
  • Alarm clock
  • Television set, radio, cd player, mp3 player – you get the idea - of course, silence can be golden.
  • Floor and shower mats, flip-flops, slippers, shower shoes (welcome to dorm life)
  • Towels, bathrobe, toiletries
  • Detergent (coin-operated washer & dryer are available on each floor)
  • Iron and small ironing board

Hints

  • When you are packing, be mindful of airline security levels. Most likely any liquid items (lotions, shampoos, make-up, etc.) need to be in checked luggage. Click here for up to the minute permitted and prohibited items according to the Transportation Security Administration.
  • Cut down on your list by coordinating with your suitemates or friends.
  • When all else fails, a Wal-Mart is never far away.
