DR.
ROBERT SMITH returns for his 26th year as a faculty member with Southwest CUNA
Management School.He also is on the
faculty of three other university executive-level leadership programs around
the country. Dr. Smith is a nationally
recognized specialist in executive leadership education and a frequent speaker
on emerging issues in leadership. In
addition, he has consulted for more than a dozen Fortune 500 companies.
Dr.
Smith is the president of Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, a comprehensive
regional university of 8,900 students undergoing continuous change in
enrollment, increased academic standards, and national stature. Last year, SRU
was selected as one of only 150 higher education institutions as a “Best Place
to Work.”Last month, the University was
ranked No. 2 in the nation among Rural Colleges and Universities.They are also ranked No. 5 among public
universities in the nation by Consumer’s Digest.Since being named president, the university
has become a “best practice” model for how to engage strategic change and has
been awarded more than a dozen national and regional achievements in strategic
initiatives and marketing.
Active
as a community volunteer, Dr. Smith is a board member for the Butler Health
System, a trustee for Butler County Community College, and serves on the
executive committee of several community development corporations as well as
past board chair for Leadership Pittsburgh, Inc.
