As our communications evolve, our methods of delivering our messages follows suit. While the days of letters, faxes, phone calls and e-mails are not in any danger of being replaced, they are making room for up and coming methods of communication that appeal to a wide range of generations. The idea of dropping a phone call in exchange for a text message may seem counter-productive but with change comes opportunity and one we are excited to announce is our recent plan for Facebook activity.
Facebook has been around for five years now but only recently are businesses embracing it as a platform to bridge their communications and keep their connections in their network in a more active way. While Facebook defines itself as a “social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them,” the reality is that this is a utility with limitless possibilities and potential, but only if you use it.
Janine McBee, CUDE, CCUE, synergist for SCMS, has opened an account. If you have been on the fence with opening an account, now is the perfect time. It takes only a couple of minutes and is completely free. And with plans to expand into Facebook groups catering to SCMS classes, organizations and more, the time has never been better to join our online community.
A Southwest CUNA Management School Facebook group has been established at http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/group.php?gid=66701880900 (login required). Any alumni, current students and faculty are welcome to join. Each class is also encouraged to set up their own group. Is it time for each class to have a social media champion? |
