Pay it forward with payroll deduction

It’s never been easier for credit unions to make a difference in their communities. Through payroll deduction, credit union staff can donate as little as $2 per paycheck to help fund Cornerstone Foundation’s grant programs.

True to its mission to “empower credit unions to make a difference in their communities,” Cornerstone Foundation strengthens the credit union movement by promoting financial literacy, providing support to credit union employees and volunteers during times of need, and more. As Cornerstone League’s 501(c)3 charity, the Foundation is a nonprofit organization sustained by credit unions, corporate partners, individuals, Cornerstone League, Cornerstone Resources, and grants from other foundations.

“Payroll deduction is a sustainable, secure, and easy way for credit union employees throughout the Cornerstone region to positively impact their communities,” said Cornerstone Foundation Executive Director Courtney Moran. “If only 20% of the 28,000 credit union staff currently employed in the Cornerstone region donated $2 per paycheck, an additional $268,000 could be raised annually.”

Donations made to Cornerstone Foundation can be applied toward:

  • The Cornerstone Foundation’s Development Fund
  • The Southwest CUNA Management Scholarship Fund
  • The Disaster Relief Fund

Donations have a multiplier effect. One donation can ensure a credit union professional receives immediate assistance after disaster strikes or help develop future credit union leaders through professional development grants and SCMS scholarships. A donation from a larger credit union can help a smaller credit union still struggling to afford COVID-19-related necessities or support the Foundation’s ongoing financial capability program efforts.
